Magdalena
Fernandez Arriaga
Has her roots in South America, and was born
in Caracas (1964). She interrupted her studies
of mathematics to embrace a more powerful passion for graphic design which she explored first at Boston University, then at the Neumann Art Institute
in Caracas, before embarking on her studies
at the Milanese studio of A. G. Fronzoni, one
of the greatest graphic artists of the late 20th century.
This experience proved to be fundamental
for her artistic career and her life in general, enriching
the
artist's style despite her knowledge
that perfection is achieved
by subtracting rather
than adding.
Her works are generated
by a precise calculation,
a minimalist graphic style and
careful, methodical planning.
Added to this is her fascination
for Nature
which is translated into linear, essential
forms
that communicate with the light and space,
and also
with the public who play an active part
in her installations.
She uses rational thought to infuse her works
with spirituality, using ultra-technological materials
to echo the rituality and magic of natural rhythms and events.
